Assessing the response to therapy of a cancer patient and the effectiveness of a new drug requires standardized measurement and reporting of target lesion evolution. MEDIAN Lesion Management Solution – LMS – is a unique clinical application designed to automate the initial evaluation and follow-up of cancerous lesions identified in CT images of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis. It also automatically generates a standardized oncologic report and centralizes all lesion information.
“Standardization” is the key word for this unique application that contributes to an increased clinical accuracy and a better communication among all specialists during tumor boards and multi-disciplinary staff meetings. Used in clinical routine, it ensures that patients will receive the best quality of care. Multi-site facilities can be synchronized and centralized through a common patient lesion database.
MEDIAN LMS is also designed to serve clinical trials. “Pharmaceutical companies need to conform to international criteria such as RECIST to evaluate drug effectiveness. Yet, they also require information such as lesion volume or attenuation changes because it brings additional clinical value,” explains Fredrik Brag, CEO of MEDIAN Technologies. “Our LMS application really answers these needs by providing automatic RECIST reports as well as volume growth and attenuation information. And because all the lesion data is centralized, it also allows the pharmaceutical companies to monitor trial results in real time at all participating sites.”
